I'm all about saving money whenever possible! Here are a few beauty tricks I've learned over the years that have definitely saved me more than a couple of dollars...
Check for dupes: I am a chronic lipstick loser. It sucks when I invest in a MAC or other branded lipstick and then it just disappears one day. I’ve now made it a part of my routine to search for drug store dupes of my favorite lipstick shades. I get the same amazing shade for a lot less and if I lose it, it won’t be as big of a deal to replace a $4 lipstick!
Make your makeup wipes last longer: After some scolding from my mom, I realized that it isn’t necessary to use an entire makeup wipe to take off your makeup. Rip that thing in half and your pack will last a lot longer! Another one of my favorite makeup wipe tips is turning the pack over bottom up after every use. All of the moisture will move to the top and they'll dry out a lot slower!
Use things that you already have in your kitchen for beauty treatments: Did you know that Apple Cider Vinegar can do wonders for your skin and hair? The acidity of the vinegar can actually stop acne by drying out the blemishes and it can also leave your hair shiny and beautiful by removing shampoo residue. Don’t even get me started on the beauty benefits of coconut oil…..I just want to pour coconut oil over my entire life.
Cut open those bottles: I seriously don’t know what I was doing with my life before I began cutting open "empty" product bottles. Though you may not be able to squeeze out any more of your Miss Jessie’s Pillow Soft Curls hair cream….that does not mean that it is all gone! Cut it open and you’ll be surprised with a couple days left of product hidden in there.
Fix broken eyeshadows and powders in a second: Dropping your eyeshade palette on the floor and opening it find it broken in a thousand little pieces can be devastating. Have no fear! There's no need to rush out to the store to buy a new one. Add a little rubbing alcohol to the broken pieces, smooth it out, let it dry…and it’s as good as new!
